CQC Inspection Reveals Deficiencies in Legionella and Fire Safety Compliance – Pressing Safety Concerns Found at Hastings GP Surgery:
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has released its recent findings concerning Harold Road Surgery, located on Harold Road,in Hastings which serves a patient base exceeding 11,500 individuals.
Following concerns brought to the CQC’s attention, an unannounced inspection was conducted by inspectors.
Dr. Sean O’Kelly, the Chief Inspector of Healthcare at the CQC, highlighted in the report that patient safety wasn’t consistently upheld by the safeguarding systems and procedures in place. The inspection revealed deficiencies in effectively assessing, monitoring and managing risks to staff, patients, and visitors.
Key areas of concern included fire safety and evacuation procedures, legionella control, premises health and safety, and managing the spread of healthcare-associated infections.

Emphasizing the significance of robust fire safety and evacuation protocols, neglecting to monitor and assess risks in buildings with substantial public engagement isn’t merely against the law but could also lead to legal consequences and pose significant dangers to patients.
The inspection also identified concerns regarding the legionella risk assessment at the facility. The report highlighted the need for improvement in this area, alongside other safety measures, to ensure the well-being of staff, patients, and visitors.
