This October, Legionella & Fire Safe Services is proud to have been supporting Lichfield District Council and the Lichfield Community Safety Partnership in launching a new fire safety resource aimed at helping local residents reduce the risk of household fires and keep their families safe.
The initiative brings together local organisations, including Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service, Staffordshire Police, and community groups across the district, all working towards one shared goal: protecting people and preventing emergencies before they happen.
The new resource highlights some of the most common causes of home fires, from chip pans and electric heaters to faulty wiring, overloaded sockets, and forgotten appliances. It also provides practical advice on how to plan ahead, what to do in an emergency, and simple ways to make every home safer.
As part of the campaign, Legionella & Fire Safe Services has donated essential fire safety items, including fire blankets and home fire alarms, which will be given away as prizes in the council’s community competition running throughout October.
Councillor Richard Cox, Cabinet Member for Community Safety, said:
“The Community Safety Partnership is committed to keeping people safe across our district. Everyday items, from heaters to chip pans, can pose serious risks if not used with care. This new resource gives residents the knowledge they need to prevent fires before they happen.”
LFS Business Manager Kym Morris said:
“We’re proud to play a part in this initiative. Fire safety starts with awareness, and even small changes in the home can make a big difference. Working together with the Council and local partners means we can help more families stay safe.”
